Everyone learns differently

A learning specialist who understands

Teachers do their absolute best to differentiate, but when you have over ten, sometimes over twenty, students in one room, individualized learning is nearly impossible.  No matter how amazing your child's teacher is, and there are many, one-on-one instruction is simply the best. Period.

The secret of education lies in respecting the pupil.
— Ralph Waldo Emerson

  1. Calm - set the emotional tone of learning and studying
  2. Vision/Goals - Self directed/inner drive/true motivation
  3. Strategy - Where Art meets Science - 20 yrs. of experience
  4. Organization & Process - Your child becomes independent
  5. Persistence - Grit becomes a rewarding & welcome attribute

Remediation - It has often been said that clarity & knowledge are power. Unfortunately, with so much coming at our children so fast, they often feel confused, foggy & overwhelmed.  Jennifer helps each student see the ‘bigger picture’ of their academic career. They begin to apply their new skills in the context of a long range game plan. They start to understand they are in a marathon, not a sprint, and they find a pace and enjoy using their successful new strategies within the context of this exciting vision of nearly unlimited possibility.

Therapeutic Approach - Working as a teacher and advisor in a therapeutic school has afforded Jennifer the opportunity to help children and young adults through very difficult and challenging times.  Jennifer has years of experience supporting people through the confusing and painful stages of grief and the challenging steps of recovery (please ask for referrals for supportive and helpful professionals.) She also has acquired skillful approaches to helping families navigate the inherent frustrations that can come along with learning challenges.  And she is an expert at guiding young people through the inevitable, natural and healthy stages of growing up that can often seem disorienting and overwhelming.
